Memorial Garden Project

Patient Recuperation, Respite, Reflection

The Pecos County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) Auxiliary envisions the circular Garden to be a peaceful, sanctuary-like setting that will offer hospital patients, their families, nearby assisted living residents, and community members a quiet place to visit, reflect, exercise, walk and enjoy the circular paths surrounded by wildscaped native shade trees and plants.

Sharing a shady bench and caring conversation with loved ones in the Garden gazebo
will surely enhance the quality of healthcare PCMH offers going forward.

Memorial Tributes

Fort Stockton has a great history made up of wonderful people who have left their mark on our lives. This project will not only remember those great personalities, but also encourage our future generations to know those who have gone before.

Memorial bricks, benches, and plaques are available to commemorate your loved ones.

Recognition

Corporate donors and sustaining partners may choose plaques at different value levels associated with various architectural features of the Garden.

Outdoor Nature Setting

Community Outreach and Education

Preserving history and fostering education are central to the PCMH Auxiliary Memorial Garden .

Outdoor and science-based educational activities will be provided for citizens of all ages.

School programs and scout activities will focus on developing knowledge about the West Texas ecosystem, a concern for water conservation through critical thinking and provide new skills in native plant and small wildlife identification.

Garden Project Summary

The Auxiliary is a volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of healthcare offered at the Hospital.

The architect’s Garden plans estimate total costs of $225,000 with four phases of construction:

1)       Site preparation, water capture, drip irrigation

2)       Brick and decomposed granite walkways

3)       Gazebo and shade trellis

4)       Native plants, trees and perimeter walls and gates.

The Auxiliary has already raised over 20% of funding needed and is actively seeking support from businesses, foundation grants, and is organizing fundraisers.
